Our Team
Jeanette McCarthy
Founder
Jeanette McCarthy is a genetic epidemiologist by training, receiving her MPH and PhD from UC Berkeley under the mentorship of geneticist Mary-Claire King. She spent the early part of her career at Millennium Pharmaceuticals (now Takeda) before moving to academia, serving on the faculty at San Diego State University and then Duke University in the Institute for Genome Sciences and Policy. Most recently she was VP of Precision Medicine at the bioinformatics company Fabric Genomics where she led Product and their clinical interpretation services. She currently provides consulting services to the genetic testing industry, as a content expert on the various uses of genetic testing in clinical practice. Over the years she has become an internationally-recognized leading educator in precision medicine, reaching thousands of learners through her online Precision Medicine Academy.
Shervin Kamkar

Shervin Kamkar, MS is a business development and market strategy leader with over 15 years' experience in the genomics, life sciences, and diagnostics space. He is currently head of commercialization, market strategy and product development for Kura Biotech’s genomics division. Previously, he was at Illumina as the Commercial Business Head for their Understand Your Genome® (UYG) symposia - an innovative, clinically responsible, experiential education program.
Shervin has a MS in Molecular Biology from San Francisco State University and the University of California, San Francisco.
Bernard Esquivel

Bernard Esquivel, MD, PhD, is a practicing physician-scientist, senior executive, and international leader with in-depth expertise developing new markets, devising compelling value propositions, go-to-market strategies, and launching programs to fulfill organizational goals and objectives in the healthcare space. He is currently the Chief Medical Officer at GenXys Health Care Systems and Head of Clinical Innovation at ixlayer. For more than a decade, he has also worked to bring advances in genomics and precision medicine to Latin America. He is co-founder of Total Quality Medicine, the primary distributor of genetic testing in Latin America and founder and president of the Latin American Association of Personalized Medicine (ALAMP).
